We made a shooting schedule in order to plan and organise ourselves and our actors. We've decided to film the majority of our shots on Friday 12th October and Saturday 13th October. We have estimated 15 minutes for each shot starting from 6am on the Friday until 7.30am. Then on the Saturday we will be filming from 7.45am until 9.30am.

Location
The Woods
One of the main locations we will be filming our music video, due to what we found out in our audience research will be the local woods. We chose this to be one our locations as in our audience research we found that a lot of people said that a place full of nature is what they expected to see in an alternative music video. Also we thought it would be a good place to film a love scene/romantic music video.
Windmill Fields/Golf Course
Another location we chose was the local gold course/fields by the windmill in our local town after what we found out in our audience research. This location will be one of the main ones we film our music video because its in a nature area which is featured a lot in our music video research and also in our audience research. Also it will be a good place to film a romantic music video as it is on the water front and very scenic.
Beach
The next location is the beach by the golf course. This would be a nice place to film a love scene because there is a beach and also a lighthouse near which is quite a romantic scene, it is also again a place with nature like we found in our research.
Battery Point
There is a field behind the outdoor pool next to the water by the lighthouse which we will be using to film a lot of our music video. This will be a good place to film our music video due to the romantic scene and also the attachment to nature so that it fits well with the song, our genre and the romantic storyline.
These locations are chosen to fit the romantic storyline and the results we found from our music video research and our audience research. I think that all of these locations will go well together to create a good scene for the video and create a scenic, romance music video.
Actors
Hannah Smith & Sam Pearson
Hannah Smith
Hannah will be playing the girl in the relationship as she takes drama and will be able to play the part well with the male actor.
Sam Pearson
Sam will be playing the boy in the relationship as he also takes drama and will be able to play the part with the female actor well.
Costume
This is the original costume idea for the couple in our music video to wear. We found in our research that people expected pretty colours to be in an alternative music video so the girl will be wearing a flowery dress or something girly and summery. The boy will be wearing something simple but alternative/indie so that they look like a matching, cool couple.
My Song Choice
The Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition
(insert link)
This is the song we have chosen to make a music video for for our project. This video is about a young couple in love who are experiencing the ups and downs of a relationship but who make effort through the hard times to stay together.
The lyrics to the chorus of the song are as follows:
A moment, a love, a dream, aloud
A kiss, a cry, our rights, our wrongs
So stay there
Cause i'll be coming over
And while our bloods still young
It's so young it runs
We wont stop till it's over
Won't stop to surrender
A kiss, a cry, our rights, our wrongs
So stay there
Cause i'll be coming over
And while our bloods still young
It's so young it runs
We wont stop till it's over
Won't stop to surrender
This is what we will base the main idea of our video around, using this idea of young love and a rough time to create a basic storyline that will run alongside the song so that the audience will be involved in the song, making it more appealing to watch. Also the people who answered the questionnaire were all ages 17-20 they will understand the concept and young love and be able to relate to the storyline which is the main aim of the song.
The Artist
The Temper Trap
The Temper Trap are an indie-pop/alternative band formed in 2005, most of their songs are about love and romance and they make a lot of music that people can relate to, another reason we chose this band to make our music video for.
Audience Research Results
For our questionnaire I asked 12 people to fill in the questionnaire about themselves, their ideas of alternative music videos and how frequently they watch music video. These were the results we found:
1. What gender are you?
6 of the 12 people were female and the other 6 people were male.
2. How old are you?
All twelve of the people we asked were from ages 17-20.
3. How often do you watch music videos?
4. Where do you mostly watch music videos?
5. What conventions do you expect to find in an alternative music video?
These were a selection of the most frequent comments answered on this question:
- Romance
- Couples
- Storylines
- Scenic landscapes
- Live performances of the artist
- Pretty colours
- Nature locations - woods/fields
6. What would you expect to see the band members/artist doing in the video?
These were a selection of the most frequent comments answered on this question:- Involved in the storyline
- Liv performances
- Love scenes
- In a scenic area walking etc
What I've found from my Audience Research
For both makes and females aged 17-20, the main mode of watching music videos is television and YouTube where they watch videos mostly once a week or sometimes daily. Their ideas of what an alternative music video should entail often involved love, romance and a lot of songs/videos surrounding the idea of a relationship. This is something I will incorporate into my music video. The people who completed my questionnaire said that they expected to see scenic landscapes, pretty colours and a lot of locations with nature such as lakes, fields, forests etc. I will try to incorporate this into my video so that it is not only what they expect to see in an alternative music video but what they want to see, this will also work well with the theme of romance.
